Founded in 2005 by Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales, Romance Was Born unites art and design through theatrical storytelling. Winners of the 2008 Woolmark Designer Award and the 2009 Qantas Spirit of Youth Award, the duo have dressed icons including Cate Blanchett and Lady Gaga.Their Designer Rugs collection is fantastical and visionary — kaleidoscopic colours and wondrous imagery drawn from their print archives. In 2018, the collection was extended by Pink Eye, a special collaboration with Archibald Prize-winning artist Del Kathryn Barton.
