Christine McDonald is a Senior Designer for Designer Rugs, with over 20 years of experience. Rugs are often inspired by nature, abstract and evolved, and Christine’s collection LØCAL definitely draws from this. Christine developed each design from a very personal aspect- the region of Wollongong, where she grew up and still lives to this day. The designs have been described as “looking through the clouds onto a field of pattern”, just like you would see from the panoramic view at Stanwell Tops. The aesthetic created by the LØCAL collection is further enhanced by the use of traditional, Nepalese hand knotting techniques. The time-honoured tradition of hand knotting Tibetan wool collides in a palette of colours, each sympathetic to the Australian interior.
STANWELL is closest to Christines heart. It's the place of her upbringing, her home. Stanwell Park was where Christine was a member of the surf club, as a young body boarder and where many a beach party was held. The design uses double triangles [diamonds]; its busy, like Christines childhood. Its reminiscent of a blanket for those cool nights or a beach towel for those summer days at the beach.
When you buy a new rug, you’re making an investment in your home, your space, and your style, and you want it to look perfect in your room.
In addition to finding a rug that compliments the style and function of your space and your own personal taste, you’re also going to want to account for considerations of size, shape and placement.
We’ve created a simple guide to consider when making your rug purchase.
Learn moreWe advise professional cleaning for all our rugs.
Vacuum regularly - we do not recommend using rotating or
brush head vacuum cleaners on any of our rugs, or vacuum
cleaners with a very strong suction.
Clean spills immediately. Never rub a spill, instead blot any
liquids with a dry absorbent white cloth or white paper towel. If
in doubt, please seek professional advice from our Preferred
Cleaner Network.
Do not steam clean or dry-clean your rug, and avoid harsh
chemicals. Our rugs are not machine-washable.
Direct sunlight will cause fading - avoid direct exposure to
sunlight.
