Designer Rugs is proud to support UNSW Art & Design students through our Rug Up program. The project is designed to develop the design vision and practice of the students whilst also giving them an insight into the world of commercial design. The program has been running since 2008, and the designs that have been created by these talented students over the years are deeply impressive.
When you buy a new rug, you’re making an investment in your home, your space, and your style, and you want it to look perfect in your room.
In addition to finding a rug that compliments the style and function of your space and your own personal taste, you’re also going to want to account for considerations of size, shape and placement.
We’ve created a simple guide to consider when making your rug purchase.
Learn moreWe advise professional cleaning for all our rugs.
Vacuum regularly - we do not recommend using rotating or brush head vacuum cleaners on any of our rugs, or vacuum cleaners with a very strong suction.
Clean spills immediately. Never rub a spill, instead blot any liquids with a dry absorbent white cloth or white paper towel. If in doubt, please seek professional advice from our Preferred Cleaner Network.
Do not steam clean or dry-clean your rug, and avoid harsh chemicals. Our rugs are not machine-washable.
Direct sunlight will cause fading - avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

Christine McDonald, Lia Pielli and Chloe Boudib develop our highly successful In House Collections - a reflection of their decades of experience creating custom rugs, and desire to create innovative new designs.
“As custom-made specialists, we are lucky to have first-hand experience with what is happening in the market in terms of colour and design,” says senior designer Lia Pielli. “Because we work across both residential and commercial projects with long lead times, we always have our finger on the pulse of interiors trends.”
Seeing how designs are interpreted and changed to suit different homes is a fascinating part of the design process for the Designer Rugs team.
Their In House Collections act as a ‘jumping off point’ for customers to get creative, and it’s rewarding for the team to see the unique, beautiful and sometimes surprising rugs springing from their initial ideas.
